Leslies Motors - Coronavirus Updates

Following on from last night’s announcement that Leslies Motors will be temporarily closing its business’, we would like to now provide some more information on our full plans.

As of the evening of the 24/03/2020 all sites will be closed. This is for both sales, aftersales and it also includes our fuel station. This is for both the safety of our staff and our customers, and at this current time this is the most important thing for us.

We will endeavour to reopen at least one of our workshops if possible, to allow key workers access to MOT’s and other vehicle repairs. However, as this situation is fluid, we will update you as an when this is happening. Please keep an eye on our social channels for this.

We are today working hard to contact as many bookings as we possibly can to make arrangements to delay these where possible. For anyone with vehicles on order, again we are working hard to make arrangements to allow this to happen at a later date.

We will still be contactable in the period we are closed on the normal phone numbers. All of our used vehicles will be visible online and we will be on hand remotely to answer any questions you may have about them.

The most important thing to all of us here a Leslies Motors is our staff and customers safety, and following on from the government advice the best thing we can all do is stay home.

What does this mean for my MOT, it's due soon?

As of 25th March 2020, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has published guidance for vehicle owners that says:

  • If your MOT expires on or before 29th March 2020 your test is still a legal requirement
  • If your MOT due date expires on or after 30th March 2020 it will automatically be extended by six months
  • If you are eligible for an MOT extension, owners are still encouraged to check their tyres are road legal.

    How do I tax my vehicle during this time?

    ​Your vehicle can be taxed as normal during this MOT extension. You can do this by visiting or by telephone on 0300 123 4321. 

    How do I insure my vehicle during this time?

    Again, your vehicle can be insured as normal, please contact your insurance company if your insurance is due to run out during this time.

    What support are you offering Key Workers?

    If you are a key worker and you have essential work due to be carried out on your vehicle, please email us at and we will do our absolute best to accommodate you and get you back on the road as quickly as we can.
