Hyundai on the Isle of Wight began with Wight Motors in Ryde in the year 2000. Beginning with classic Hyundai’s such as the Accent and the Coupe.
It launched very successfully, proving a hit with Islanders. In 2002 Hyundai introduced the 5-year warranty, the first of its kind, and which now extends to a 5-year roadside assistance cover also. At this time, it was the 16th largest car manufacturer in the world.
With the rapid expansion of the Hyundai Motor Company, the range and the quality of the vehicles vastly improved. Today it boasts the award winning i10, which has won Which Car? Best City Car for 3 years running, among many other awards. This has now meant Hyundai are now the 5th largest car manufacturer in the world.
Leslies Hyundai, formally Wight Motors Hyundai, is currently enjoying significant growth here on the Island, since joining Leslies Motors in 2015. The team are always sure to give the best customer service to everyone who walks through the door, and customers are showing how much they love the product by coming back to us again and again. We try to get involved with as many local events on the Island as possible, from the County Show to the Annual IW Ploughing Match, we attend as many as we can. We believe this has attributed to our growth, along with our sponsorship of Newclose Cricket Ground and Sandown and Shanklin Golf Club.
