Leslies Motors sponsors the Butterfly and Bee charity cycle ride and helps to raise over £30,000
We here at Leslies Motors are proud to announce that we have helped to raise over £30,000 for 2 local charities, the KissyPuppy Foundation and Beaulieu Respite, by sponsoring a brave and ambitious cycle ride from St Thomas Square in Newport all the way to Nice in the South of France. We as a Motor Group were very proud to be the main sponsor, and we donated £3500 which helped towards such things as ferry tickets, cycling gear, support vehicles, campsite fees and meals.
Before the big event, we invited the team to fundraise at our Leslies Motor Show, as well as the Isle of Wight Motor Show and at our stand at the County Show. We were keen to spread the word about the cycle challenge as much possible, and all funds raised at these events went towards the final total.
On the 31st of July 13 cyclists and 7 support crew set off for Nice from St Thomas’ Square in Newport. They then began the gruelling 1000 mile journey, completing it in just 10 days! A fantastic achievement for all involved.
Our Dealer Principle Graham Vanassche was keen to be involved with this cycle challenge, saying; "We are so proud of our local cyclists taking on such a big challenge for such wonderful causes. It is great we can get behind the charity cycle and support everyone as much as we can.” We we’re so impressed by the money raised and by the whole team, Leslies Motors has decided to sponsor them for their next fundraising adventure in 2018.
